Every year Kaitao participates in an annual stage challenge international event.This year Kaitao's theme was different people coming together. when we first started practicing for it we had a so different way of producing it than the final product.we were all learning the same dance at the beginning but slowly and progressively it all fell together.We ended up split into 4 groups.Girls Hip Hop, Boys Hip Hop, Jazz, and Poi.All the the dance groups worked with each other to make up the dances.I was in Girls Hip Hop so i know a lot more about that then any other group our leader was Melody Strickland.At the beginning the dance was at slow motion but quickly came together.The new moves always came out on Sundays making it extra important to go to Sunday practices.We finally put it all together it looked pretty cool but none of our practices could compare to the final performance at the convention centre.26th of May 09- Performance day.
It was my birthday and it was time to 100% serious.Facials, Big moves, Right timing and have fun.We left for the convention centre at around about 8:45 am. When we arrived it was on we had morning tea and went into the auditorium for a production meeting.We danced jumped up and down, talked, and won prizes.Then we left for 5 minutes for some fresh air and re-entered when we got back it was time to rehearse we were the first school shame.
We got into our places and the music started. the boys began to dance.Then the Jazz girls came and killed there buzz.After they danced Jazz and Hip Hop Boys Battled off.Then our group walked in and broke it up we dance the the poi came and did the thing and went through us in the end we all did the same together and free styled.the for the final pose we rehearsed three and then the lighting was right.
We went to the park for an hour and came back.When we got back we got changed and did our makeup played games Forest View high school.We played Ninja & round the circle.Then it was
time to get our faces on we sat down and watched the other schools the 3rd school began to perform we walked out the back door and went to corridor leading to the stage we waited our turn to go on when the girls ran on and everything was perfect we got awards and we find out who won on thursday the 28th of may.
